Author Topic: Royer R121 vs R122 - self-noise? The R-122 is basically a phantom powered version of the R-121, coupled with a larger transformer and active electronics. What is the difference between the R-121 and the R-122 MKII? The R122 is the higher priced version of the R121, due to the phantom powered internal amp. Does a clear winner stand out to you? The R122 (they are active) don't need the extra gain none active ribbon mics do.
